About the Maronite Church

Our History, our Maronite Catholic Faith and more.

Learn more about St. Elias Maronite church and the Maronite church. Rich in tradition and faith, our church was established in 1910 in order to serve a growing population of people (primarily from what is now the country of Lebanon, and others from the Middle East countries) who had immigrated to Birmingham. The Maronite Church is one of the twenty-two churches which form the one universal Catholic Church. A Church is a community of faith having a distinct tradition of theology, spirituality, liturgy, hierarchy, and canon law. At the same time, each church enjoys autonomy and independence from its sister churches. All of the churches are united in the same profession of Faith, in the same seven Sacraments, and in union with the Holy Father. The love of Christ and family are at the heart of our faith community. Nowhere is this more noticeable than at our Annual Food and Cutural Festival. Come experience genuine love for neighbor during this special time.
